Sustainability Policy

At Sun Way Apart Hotel, we believe tourism should enrich the places and people it touches. Our long-term goal is to reduce the negative impacts of tourism on society and the planet while actively contributing to positive outcomes. We commit to responsible waste management, careful use of natural resources, and a safe, fair, and inclusive workplace. Through regular training on health and safety, child protection, and equal opportunities, and by working closely with our local community, we aim to be part of the solution to social and environmental challenges in Alanya.

Our Commitment

We recognize that conserving natural resources and managing them efficiently are essential to the long-term viability of travel and hospitality. By implementing practical, measurable actions, we aspire to be a small but meaningful example of good practice in our region’s hotel sector. Our approach is continuous improvement: setting goals, measuring our performance, and refining our efforts year after year.

Compliance and Integrity

We comply with all applicable primary and secondary legislation related to sustainability, including environmental protection, labor standards, health and safety, consumer protection, and data privacy. Beyond legal compliance, we aim to deliver value to our guests and community through:

  • High-quality service rooted in transparency and respect

  • Local economic growth via fair employment and responsible purchasing

  • Environmental protection through resource efficiency and pollution prevention

  • Social participation by supporting community initiatives and inclusive employment

Environmental Stewardship

We take concrete steps to minimize our footprint:

Energy

  • Gradual transition to energy-efficient lighting and equipment

  • Preventive maintenance for HVAC systems to reduce leaks and inefficiencies

  • Staff and guest awareness (“switch-off” and temperature set-point guidance)

  • Annual targets for kWh per occupied room and peak-load reduction

Water

  • Low-flow fixtures where feasible and routine leak checks

  • Towel/linen reuse program with clear guest communication

  • Separate metering and monthly monitoring of m³ per occupied room

  • Pool management to maintain quality while minimizing losses

Waste & Circularity

  • Clear segregation (paper/cardboard, plastics, glass, metals, organics, residual)

  • Partnerships with licensed recyclers; tracking of diversion rates

  • Purchasing guidelines favoring reduced packaging and refillable amenities

  • Responsible handling of hazardous materials (batteries, bulbs, chemicals)

Procurement & Biodiversity

  • Preference for local, seasonal, and responsibly produced goods when quality and price are comparable

  • Avoidance of products linked to deforestation or illegal wildlife trade

  • Landscaping that favors native plants and pollinator-friendly practices

  • Noise/light management to respect neighbors and local wildlife patterns

People & Culture

A sustainable hotel is built by a healthy, motivated team and supported by informed guests:

Health, Safety & Wellbeing

  • Regular training on occupational health and safety; accessible reporting channels for hazards

  • Emergency procedures and drills for fire, pool safety, and severe weather

  • Cleanliness standards that exceed regulatory minimums and align with guest expectations

Fair Work & Equal Opportunity

  • Equal access to hiring, training, scheduling, and promotion without discrimination

  • Transparent contracts, wages in line with legal requirements, and timely payment

  • Prevention of harassment and zero tolerance for any form of exploitation

Training & Awareness

  • Onboarding modules for sustainability basics, resource use, and guest engagement

  • Periodic refreshers on energy/water practices, waste sorting, and respectful service

  • Supervisor coaching on data collection and performance tracking

Child Protection

  • Staff training to recognize and report suspected child abuse or exploitation

  • Collaboration with local authorities and adherence to national/international guidelines

  • Clear guest communication that the property has zero tolerance for such behavior

Accessibility & Inclusion

  • Progressive improvements to access where feasible (wayfinding, communication, reasonable accommodations)

  • Guest information in clear language; respectful support for diverse needs

Community & Local Value

We are part of Alanya and seek to contribute positively:

  • Hiring locally where possible and investing in staff development

  • Supporting local suppliers, artisans, and experiences that reflect the region’s culture

  • Donating time or resources to community projects (beach clean-ups, environmental days, neighborhood improvements)

  • Being a good neighbor: considerate noise levels, traffic and parking management, and responsible event planning

Governance, Goals & Measurement

We will set clear sustainability objectives and review them at least annually. Examples include:

  • Reduce electricity consumption (kWh/occupied room) by a targeted percentage year-over-year

  • Reduce water consumption (m³/occupied room) and improve leak-response times

  • Increase waste diversion rate (recycling/composting) with quarterly reporting

  • Expand local and certified-responsible procurement across priority categories

To support continuous improvement, we will:

  • Assign responsibilities at management level and designate staff champions in key departments

  • Track monthly performance data and discuss progress in team meetings

  • Invite guest and employee feedback, and act on it

  • Publish a concise annual summary of our sustainability actions and results

Communication & Engagement

Sustainability works best when everyone participates:

  • Guests: We share simple, respectful guidance (linen/towel reuse, sorting bins, energy use tips) and welcome suggestions.

  • Team: We celebrate ideas that save resources or improve wellbeing and service.

  • Suppliers: We communicate our expectations and prefer partners who share our standards.

Continuous Improvement

Sustainability is a journey. We will regularly review this policy, update our targets, and align with credible industry guidance as it evolves. Whenever feasible, we will explore voluntary programs or certifications appropriate to our size and resources. Above all, we will keep our efforts practical, transparent, and focused on real results for our guests, our team, and our community.
